The Moxa EDS-P308 is an eight-port unmanaged ethernet switch that features power over ethernet (PoE) on ports one to four, and supplies up to 15.4 W of power per port.
By combining the network signal and device power in a single, twisted pair ethernet cable connection, the switch increases mobility and simplifies wiring for network connections.
The complementary Moxa SPL-24 is a PoE splitter that distributes power to non-PoE devices such as small PLCs and IO modules that have no ethernet capability.
The splitter takes power from the PoE lines and can deliver up to 12.94 W per device at 24 VDC.
The units are claimed to simplify wiring in the field, provide a more versatile environment for installing a wider range of ethernet and non-ethernet devices, provide power to inaccessible locations and enable existing network points to be used without the need to run extra power lines.
The switch features four IEEE802.3af-compliant PoE and ethernet combo ports and intelligent power consumption detection, while both units feature redundant dual VDC power inputs, auto disconnection for over- and undervoltage and DIN rail mount ability.
