Moxa IMC-P101 industrial PoE media converters

The Moxa IMC-P101 series of UL508-certified industrial PoE media converters offer a long-distance ethernet-to-fibre communications solution, while adding PoE functionality to reduce cabling costs and set-up times.

The device is designed to provide IEEE 802.3af PoE ethernet-to-fibre media conversion from 10/100 BaseT(X) to 100 BaseFX(SC/ST) in harsh environments and operating temperature ranges of -40 to 75°C.

The converters pull double duty as power source equipment and, when used in this way, provide up to 15.4 W of power to IEEE 802.3af-compliant powered devices over UTP cables. This eliminates the need for additional wiring and maximises installation flexibility.

Most media converters support link fault pass-through functionality, which detects link failures in a network and disables the converter in response to any ‘pass-through’s in the link. However, in most media converters this will also cut off the power supply to any powered devices, creating system downtime. The IMC-P101 includes a ‘power remote reset’ function that prevents downtime by enabling a continuous flow of power to connected devices even when link fault pass-through is enabled or there are power issues at a higher level of the network.

The converters support IEEE 802.3/802.3u/802.3x with 10/100M, full/half-duplex, and MDI/ MDI-X auto-sensing for integration into industrial ethernet networks.
