Traffic Monitor+ for Android devices is now available. The ad-free app enables Australian Android users to test the quality of their network provider and optimise smartphone usage by showing the best signal spots on a map. Users can also keep track of their voice, SMS and data usage by setting maximum usage allowances and receive warnings to avoid surprise charges in their bills.
Traffic Monitor+ allows users to test and benchmark their connection speed and network coverage including; speed test - tests mobile connection speed and breaks results into upload, download and ping speed and; coverage - the NetMonitor module illustrates network availability on a map relative to the current position. It identifies the best signal sports, as well as comparing their current provider coverage against others for that area;
The app also assesses positioning and usage data including: roaming - detects when the device is on a foreign network and shows dedicated roaming counters so the user can keep track of their usage abroad; voice/SMS - monitors the number and duration of voice calls and SMSes, and users can see predicted usage based on this data; data usage - users can set a specified period of time and maximum data allowances so they can control and monitor data usage and receive warnings in order to not exceed limits and incur extra charges; task manager - see all running apps and close apps that are consuming too much memory.
