NECA National Awards 2008
The NECA National Excellence Awards, held 14 November, recognised Australia’s most significant electrical and communications projects carried out during 2008. The national winners were selected from state winners nominated by NECA state chapters.
NECA National CEO James Tinslay said: “We continue to be impressed by the calibre of projects in which our members are involved. The winning projects are truly outstanding for the level of technical expertise and innovation demonstrated in their completion. These are pre-eminent awards in the electrical and communications sector, and it is terrific to see the continuing high quality of nominations for leading-edge projects and the exceptional business practices represented by our industry.”
The winners were:
- Domestic: Synergy Integrated Systems (NSW) for work on a private residence in Sydney
- Small Contracting Business:
– Winner: Trifield Electrical Engineering (WA) for Coal Fuel Handling
– Certificate of Commendation: Adrian Webb Electrical (NSW) - Environmental and Energy Efficiency:
– Winner: VIP Electrical Services (SA) for Royal Adelaide Golf Club storm water treatment and storage installation
– Certificate of Commendation: Totalec (NSW) - Occupational Health & Safety: Downer EDI Engineering (WA) for OH&S certification
- Industrial:
– Winner: Electrical Construction and Maintenance (WA) for Pilbara Port
– Certificate of Commendation: O’Donnell Griffin (SA) - Voice/Data — Small project: Russell-Smith Electrical and Communications, Tasmania for Telecommunications installation at Vaucluse Gardens
- Voice/Data — Large project:
– Winner: Downer EDI Engineering (WA) for SmartRider automated fares collection system
– Certificate of Commendation: Stowe Australia (NSW) - Commercial — Small project: Niramar Pty Ltd (SA) for Oriental Hotel at Kent Town
- Commercial — Medium project:
– Winner: The Butler Did It (SA) for Southern Ocean Lodge at Kangaroo Island
– Certificate of Commendation: Rutledge Engineering (Aust) (NSW) - Commercial — Large project:
– Winner: Stowe Australia (Queensland) for Skilled Park Stadium at the Gold Coast
– Certificate of Commendation: Nilsen NT (Northern Territory)
