Oscilloquartz OSA 5331 PTP Grandmaster

Precision time protocol (PTP) IEEE 15888-2008 (v2) is a solution for the distribution of synchronisation over IP-based packet networks such as IP, IP/MPLS, ethernet, IP/xPON and IP/xDSL networks. Oscilloquartz offers a comprehensive range of PTP products covering all synchronisation needs in the telecommunication, broadcast and power and utilities domains.

The Oscilloquartz OSA 5331 PTP Grandmaster is designed to serve reliable time, phase and frequency to numerous PTP slaves due to its dual PTP ports along with a powerful PTP engine. The device consists mainly of a GNSS-receiver (GPS + GLONASS) and a PTP engine delivering PTP service over an ethernet port along with frequency, phase and time-of-day outputs for legacy equipments.

To guarantee maximum protection or to operate without GPS antenna installation, the device can be synchronised using frequency inputs such as 10 MHz, 2.048 MHz or E1 as well as 1PPS + ToD. It uses an internal quartz crystal or Rubidium oscillator as a highly stable time base. The use of such precision oscillator options provides improved stability in holdover mode when the input source is interrupted for any reason.

The front panel has a large alphanumeric LCD, status indicator and five-segment button for easy status and minimal configuration. The main configuration and monitoring is through a secondary network port providing web access. So-called PTP Profiles are used to configure those parameters which are crucial for the interoperability with the connected slaves.

Features include: dual IEEE 1588-2008 (v2) ports; powerful PTP engine; protected gigabit ethernet electrical and optical (SFP) ports; GPS/GLONASS input source; frequency, phase and/or time-of-day auxiliary inputs and outputs; ±100 ns timing accuracy when locked to GNSS; highly stable internal quartz or rubidium oscillator; compact 19″ or ETSI/1U/240 mm rackmountable chassis.
