ARBS 2016 seminar program released
Australia’s international air conditioning, refrigeration and building services trade exhibition, ARBS 2016, has announced the seminar line-up for this year's event. The seminar program promises a range of high-profile and respected experts discussing the topics of most importance to the industry.
Highlights include a panel discussion on the WELL Building Standard, which will provide a nuts-and-bolts explanation of the standard and its focus areas, explore opportunities and obstacles to its take-up in Australia, and discuss why healthy buildings are becoming the ‘next big thing’. This discussion will be presented by Romilly Madew, Chief Executive Officer, Green Building Council of Australia, Tony Armstrong, International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) and Mark McKenna, NDY Group Leader, Sustainability, Norman Disney & Young, and moderated by Tony Arnel, Executive Director & Global Director Sustainability, Norman Disney & Young and President, Energy Efficiency Council.
Join experts from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Building IQ, Dexus Property Group, A.G. Coombs and Norman, Disney & Young to discuss the impact of big data on industry. Our work, personal lives and behaviour have been dramatically influenced by modern technology — from the digital dexterity of mobile connectivity, to big data and analytics predicting the future and optimising performance. But what does this mean to the AEC industry? In this session a panel of experts will outline the technology that’s improving performance for tenants and how building owners are responding to the increasing demands for embedded smarts within intelligent buildings.
Of interest to building and construction professionals will be the seminar from Andrew Barr, Project Engineer from AG Coombs on how good projects can go wrong. Commissioning management roles are becoming more common in Australian building construction projects, either driven by Green Star requirements or the recognition of the value that an overarching independent ‘end to end’ delivery management role can bring. The role usually provides a unique opportunity to observe common issues and themes around why projects don’t proceed to plan (cause and effect) and how we as an industry can learn from this. This presentation will identify a number of commonly observed problems and share how these might be addressed.
ARBS 2016 will be held from 17–19 May 2016 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. If you are in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and building services industry, pre-register now using this link.
