The CompactLogix L23 Allen-Bradley controller is an addition to the CompactLogix family, extending the functionality and flexibility of the Logix control platform to small machine-level control applications.

The device supports advanced Integrated Architecture, with features including ‘alarms and events’ and ‘drive integration’, which are traditionally managed via a dedicated human-machine interface (HMI) or a separate programming package. Use of a common database between FactoryTalk View and PanelView Plus offers simple HMI integration and reduces duplicate development efforts in both the controller and the HMI. Programming time can be reduced and errors that can occur through code duplication can be minimised.

Featuring an integrated CPU, power supply and onboard I/O, all in a compact housing, the device can accommodate up to three ‘continuous’, ‘periodic’ or ‘event’ tasks and four programs.

Integrated EtherNet/IP ports and preconfigured I/O streamline installation, commissioning and operation and permit simplified networking to other controllers and plant-floor devices. It can also accommodate up to two compact I/O or communications cards for further operational flexibility.
