Obonok Technology’s Blu-Wire series T1 transmitter and R1 receiver have been updated, providing reduced signal-noise performance for HDMI signal transmission over category 6/5e UTP cable.

The pair of devices support resolutions of 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and computer resolutions up to WUXGA (1920 x 1200) over a distance of 46 m. The transmitters are powered in pairs and every third receiver needs power when using the RD1 daisy-chain receiver.

The devices enable the connection of a high-definition source such as a Blu-Ray disc player to numerous HDTVs within a 350 m radius using only singular UTP cables using HDMI signal format. Improvement to HDTV picture quality is claimed when using these devices in HDTV installations where the displays are further away than the standard 1.8 m length of HDMI hook-up cables.
