Clipsal spinning to win
24 hours, 51 laps and 800+ kilometres on a mountain bike. It’s all in a day’s work for Albury-based, Clipsal by Schneider Electric representative Mathew Harrington and his group of Bright Sparks.
The Clipsal Bright Sparks is a group of electrical contractor Club Clipsal Members and dedicated cyclists, who came together earlier this year to take part in the Scott 24-Hour Mountain Bike Race at Mount Stromlo in Canberra to raise money for the Club Clipsal charity, The E.J. Whitten Foundation. The race is held on 13-14 October, where for 24 hours, team riders take turns to ride the 16 km loop tracks.
Harrington was able to put together two teams combining a total of 13 riders. Team 2 finished in second place in the corporate category - a job well done. Overall, the group raised $7000 for The E.J. Whitten Foundation to create greater awareness of prostate cancer and raise funds for research.
“Everyone enjoyed the challenge of the ride,” Mathew said. “It was certainly an event that will be talked about long into the future.”
