Darling Quarter takes home four Property Council Awards
Lend Lease’s Darling Quarter and Commonwealth Bank Place development has taken home four awards from the 2013 Property Council of Australia/Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards.
The project was awarded the Colliers International Award for Best Office development and the WSP Award for Best Sustainable Development - New Building. The fit-out was also recognised with the Project Control Group Award for Best Workplace Project.
Last but not least, the project took out the property industry’s ‘Gold Logie’ award of the event: Australian Development of the Year.
Commonwealth Bank Place is the largest commercial office development in Sydney’s CBD and is an outstanding showcase for social, environmental and economic sustainability, Peter Verwer, Property Council of Australia Chief Executive, said.
“Lend Lease has transformed an underused part of the CBD into a dynamic destination for the community to enjoy, while also providing a world-leading office environment for 6500 CBA employees,” Verwer said.
The buildings achieved world leadership status for design and construction, which Verwer says will leave a powerful legacy for future generations.
“While banks have a reputation for being the last bastion of staid workplaces, Darling Quarter and Commonwealth Bank Place is leading the way with a high-performance, sustainable workplace that also serves as a new landmark for Sydney,” added Bob Richardson, Managing Director of Rider Levett Bucknall.
The 2013 Innovation and Excellence Award winners were announced at a gala dinner held at The Star Event Centre in Sydney on Saturday 18 May. The awards celebrate innovation and leading practice within Australia’s property development and investment industries. The full winners list is available here.
