ECA collects management award for Master Electricians program
The ECA has been recognised by the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) for its efforts to meet the needs of the industry through the Master Electricians program.
The AIM named ECA chief executive officer Malcolm Richards ‘Not for Profit Manager of the Year’ in its 2008 Brisbane Awards.
The awards recognise business leaders and managers who have achieved personal and professional excellence.
Richards said the award was recognition of the work done by the entire ECA team in delivering innovative new services to members, particularly the Master Electricians program.
The AIM said Richards had “made significant changes to the organisation by developing new initiatives to meet the needs of businesses, contractors and apprentices in the electro-technology industry". He ‘wowed’ the judges with his strategic vision and ability to lead his staff through a series of cultural changes within the organisation.
AIM chief executive Carolyn Barker said the judges were impressed by the high calibre of finalists from a diverse range of organisations and industry sectors: “The winning Brisbane managers were judged on their ability to manage complex tasks, mentor and lead staff, develop best practices and balance professional and personal commitments. The winners are all successful and motivated people in their own field, who have a measurable impact on their staff and peers and contribute positively to the culture of their workplace.”
