Gerard Lighting receives commendation at IES Awards
Gerard Lighting’s Crompton Hornet Floodlight has been awarded the 2017 IES NSW Luminaire Design Award of Commendation.
The compact, adaptable, slimline LED floodlight is made to hide unobtrusively when mounted under eaves, offering a sleek aesthetic design and performance that sets it apart. The low-profile LED floodlight has a slimline body and adjustable head (300° horizontal and 200° vertical). A separate mounting base allows for retrofitting onto existing floodlight mounting points — it is engineered to deliver performance output and robustness.
Electrical engineers Mark Ziegler, Guy Hatton-Ward and Derek Yao collaboratively designed the Crompton Hornet with Blue Sky Design Group specifically for the residential market.
The IES award represents the NSW chapter’s quality in the design and manufacture of luminaires within NSW.
“We are proud to have been presented with this award as it recognises the vision that Gerard Lighting and its team have, in understanding and identifying the future market requirements of LED lighting in this space,” said Ben Mills, general manager, Gerard Lighting.
“The Hornet redefines everyday external residential floodlight that we know, to a whole new level. Traditional floodlighting has typically been bulky and industrial in appearance. In contrast, the newly released compact, slimline design of the Crompton Hornet provides home owners and landscapers with a stylish aesthetic for their external lighting. There’s no compromise on precision and efficiency and it offers the performance of larger units with the added flexibility to direct the light precisely where needed,” Mills said.
