IPD Group expands through acquisition of EX Engineering

IPD Group, a distributor and service provider to the Australian electrical industry, has completed the acquisition of EX Engineering, a Western Australian family business that specialises in the design, supply, modification and repair of electrical hazardous area equipment.

With this strategic acquisition, IPD Group takes a significant step forward in expanding its service offerings and capabilities. EX Engineering’s portfolio, distinguished by solutions to meet hazardous area equipment needs across several industries, complements IPD’s existing services and aligns with IPD’s long-term growth strategy.

EX Engineering’s management team will remain in their current roles and will continue to oversee the operations.

Electrical equipment used in hazardous areas is characterised by the risk of fires or explosions from flammable gases or dusts. The testing and certification of equipment, services and competence of individuals utilising Ex equipment is governed by the IECEx System (International Electrotechnical Commission System for Certification to Standards relating to equipment for use in explosive atmospheres).
