The Clipsal downlight cover fits a wide range of downlights, including the company’s CDL series downlights. Completely retrofittable, the cover is manufactured from fire-retardant fibreglass and intumescent material.
The cover is totally self-supporting and can be simply placed over the downlight to prevent insulation fibres and other material from touching the lamp. It occupies a surface area of 150 x 150 mm2, well within the 200 mm insulation clearance regulations.
For new installations, contractors simply roll the cover through the downlight aperture below the ceiling and the cover automatically folds out into shape.
The cover is vented to reduce heat build-up. In the event of fire caused within the downlight, the cover will smother the flames within and self-extinguish the combustion.
The cover must be installed in accordance with AS/NZS 3000 requirements.
