Chunghwa Telecom Telecommunication Laboratories (CHTTL), the research and development arm of Chungwa Telecom, has selected Spirent to validate the performance, availability, security and scalability (PASS) of cloud computing environments. CHTTL will use Spirent’s expertise in cloud computing testing to enable Chunghwa Telecom to become Taiwan’s largest cloud computing and data centre provider.
As one of Asia’s leading network operators, Chunghwa Telecom has announced plans to launch four cloud computing centres aimed at developing and testing a wide range of services. The operator used Spirent TestCenter Virtual for benchmarking data centre and virtual server performance. The Spirent solution was also used for extensive testing of public cloud computing services such as web, mail server, FTP and CIFS.
“Service providers remain concerned about the uncertainty of the cloud environment and its impact on subscribers’ quality of experience as they enter this market segment,” said Gene Zhang, vice president, Asia at Spirent Communications, “By leveraging Spirent’s holistic cloud computing test solution, Chunghwa Telecom will ensure its cloud platform is delivering the business benefits of elastic computing without degrading the user experience.”
