Over the Wire acquires Brisbane data centre facility
Over the Wire has completed the purchase of an additional data centre in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, expanding its data centre capacity by 120 racks.
Michael Omeros, Over the Wire Director, said he is “very excited about the opportunity this presents to provide facility diversity in Brisbane for Over the Wire’s customers.”
He added that he is “looking forward to the opportunity to continue growing the business through the provision of additional colocation space”.
The facility, built to a tier 3 specification, is undergoing a refurbishment process to install new racks, power systems and additional cooling. Over the Wire is able to meet customer demand for rack space immediately. Melbourne IT’s WebCentral division has entered into an agreement to be an anchor tenant within the facility.
The facility is in a highly connected location and will become the new home for Over the Wire’s secondary network point of presence once the refurbishment is complete. It is anticipated that the facility will also be connected via diverse fibre to the company’s Brisbane metropolitan core network before the end of January.
