Spirent wins Interop award
Spirent Communications has announced that Spirent Avalanche Virtual, the industry’s first solution for cloud computing testing, was named the 2010 Best of Interop winner in the performance optimisation category.
The solution was recognised for its innovative approach for testing the performance, availability, security and scalability (PASS) of virtualised network appliances as well as cloud-based applications across public, private and hybrid cloud environments.
“The buzz today is how much money organisations can save by moving their applications into the cloud; however, one area often overlooked is the performance of those applications in this new environment,” said Michael Biddick, Best of Interop 2010 judge, who is also President and CTO of Fusion PPT. “Spirent Avalanche Virtual addresses this by providing organisations a way to measure application performance across cloud delivery platforms and networks.”
Unlike other solutions, Spirent Avalanche Virtual delivers the same real-world testing capabilities in the cloud as in traditional networks by providing realistic performance and security benchmarks. The solution has the ability to scale to millions of emulated real-world subscriber traffic.
“Spirent has changed the cloud computing conversation to focus on the performance and impact of enterprise applications rather than just economics,” said Tim Jefferson, General Manager at Spirent. “We’re extremely proud that the industry has recognised our approach, which delivers the first holistic cloud computing testing methodology to validate the PASS of the cloud infrastructure and related services.”
Each year, Best of Interop award winners prove to be the key players in the continuing evolution of business technology. There were over 100 candidates for Best of Interop consideration in nine different categories. Spirent Avalanche Virtual was judged by the editors and analysts of InformationWeek Analytics, a service for peer-based IT research and analysis, and Interop, a global business technology event.
