TE Connectivity’s InterReach Fusion distributed antenna system (DAS) has recently been deployed at Copenhagen Airport. The new system will provide mobile wireless coverage for both passengers and airport employees.

The company partnered with Danish company Caverion A/S to carry out the deployment. The system, which will provide 2G, 3G and 4G services, is owned and managed by four telecom operators in Denmark: TDC, Hi3G and TT-Netvaerket, which is a united infrastructure company by telecom majors Telia and Telenor.

The installation of the DAS across the airport terminals involved as many as 83 remote antennas and supporting hubs with both fibre and cable television (CATV) wiring.

The DAS will serve the mobile users in the frequency bands of 900/1800, 2100 and 2600 MHz while also providing Long Term Evolution Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (LTE MIMO) services for enhancing the coverage.

Being the largest airport in Scandinavia, Copenhagen Airport was in dire need of reliable interior mobile coverage to meet the requirements of its increasing passenger and employee base. The airport’s 1700 employees presently serve more than 24 million passengers each year.

The system will enable travellers to access the mobile wireless services and will ensure that airport officials are reliably able to communicate critical information like changes to flight schedules to passengers.

The InterReach Fusion is a comprehensive solution designed to provide state-of-the-art interior wireless solutions at large public venues. TE Connectivity says its past experience with such deployments means it is well placed to handle this project successfully.
