Applied Infrared Sensing stereoscopic passive electro-optic radar
Applied Infrared Sensing’s stereoscopic passive electro-optic radar, developed by Erez, is based on a stereoscopic video motion detection system that can provide an optical solution for perimeter protection.
False alarms are the main problem in any perimeter intrusion detection system. With its stereoscopic technology and detection software, it has become possible to lower the false alarm rate significantly while keeping a high probability of detection (close to 100%).
The radar creates a virtual wall or virtual fence and every attempt to cross it within 1.5 km is immediately detected. Four cameras (two thermal imaging, two CCD), a video analyser and stereoscopic motion detection software provide accuracy. The system operates by analysing and constantly comparing vision from two cameras (FLIR or CCD) staring at the same time at the same field of view.
Another perimeter protection product, the automatic safety runway surveillance system, is claimed to be the first comprehensive system for foreign object detection (FOD) on runways.
Benefits over other optical systems include: 24/7 operation, even in adverse weather conditions; completely automatic (no operator required for monitoring); versatile and easily adaptive to various areas; and designed for outdoor applications.
The systems conform with military standards: land and desert conditions as well as sea environment (MIL-STD-810F) and are suitable for military and border control professionals as well as those whose main duty is to provide perimeter surveillance and safety.
