Impedance stabilisation for category 6 cabling

Monday, 02 February, 2009 | Supplied by: Westek Electronics Pty Ltd

The ISN T8-Cat 6 impedance stabilisation network (ISN) from Teseise (formerly Schaffner Test Systems) is designed for measurements on up to four unshielded single balanced pairs of category 6 cables.

The instrument provides EMC testing of telecommunication equipment for compliance with CISPR 22 edition 5.0 and EN55022:2006 standards that specify the new longitudinal cable loss (LCL) characteristics for category 6 cable. The coupling/decoupling network is designed for use with applications employing up to 1000 Base-T operation, power-over-ethernet and immunity tests of office, telecom and networking equipment. Parameters measured include CM impedance, phase angle, voltage division factor, isolation and LCL.

Located between the EUT and auxiliary equipment or load, the instrument establishes the common mode termination impedance as seen by the telecommunication port during measurement. It has RJ45 connectors for the EUT and auxiliary equipment and features maximum line-to-ground voltages of 63 VAC and 100 VDC and maximum current ratings of 400 mA per line and 800 mA per pair.
