Tyco Electronics and Green Star rating
Tuesday, 18 May, 2010
Tyco Electronics is a valued member of The Green Building Council of Australia, a governing body of the Green Star Rating program.
Green Star is a comprehensive, national, voluntary environmental rating system that evaluates the environmental design and construction.
With 11% of Australia’s CBD commercial office buildings already Green Star certified, building green is now a business imperative.
Green Star rating tools help the designer to reduce environmental impact of buildings, energy conservation, improve occupant health and productivity and achieve real cost savings.
The following Green Star Certified Ratings are available:
- 4 Star Green Star Certified Rating (score 45-59) signifies ‘Best Practice’ in environmentally sustainable design and/or construction
- 5 Star Green Star Certified Rating (score 60-74) signifies ‘Australian Excellence’ in environmentally sustainable design and/or construction
- 6 Star Green Star Certified Rating (score 75-100) signifies ‘World Leadership’ in environmentally sustainable design and/or construction
The Tyco Electronics ‘3R Green’ program fits in well with the characteristics of the Green Star Ratings that define the ‘greenness’ of a building or environment. The characteristics that have been determined to be useful in defining the green value of such a data centre or an office building/environment include: management (10%), indoor environment quality (20%), energy (25%), transport (10%), water (15%), materials (10%), land use & ecology (5%), emissions (5%), Total 100%.
