ABB on track
The ABB FIA Formula E Championship Season 6 officially kicks off its 14-race calendar in Saudi Arabia late November and concludes in London in July next year. In its third year as title partner, ABB is showcasing its products and services at race venues worldwide, paving the way for e-mobility and smart cities.
With pre-season testing of advanced electric cars held in Valencia, Spain, the race will travel to 14 capitals including newcomers Jakarta and Seoul, along with Berlin, New York, Rome, Santiago and more.
ABB says the Formula E — the world’s first electric street racing series, with a focus on sustainability — is a natural fit. Playing a central role in the e-mobility value chain, the company is committed to driving the e-mobility evolution, as evidenced through the use of robots on assembly lines, distribution of power from renewable resources and a portfolio that includes battery storage systems, digital energy management solutions and fast charging technology.
The company partners with Electrify America, IONITY, Fastned and others to supply high-power DC fast charging stations that deliver enough energy for a 100 km range in just 4 minutes. It also offers solutions from grid distribution to charging points for cars, buses and trucks, as well as for the electrification of ships, railways, trams and cable cars.
ABB will continue as the official charging partner of the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY, the supporting-race series of ABB Formula E, and ABB Terra 53 DC chargers will power the I-PACE SUV racecars.
