Five reasons to not miss SPARC 2015
There are a multitude of reasons why SPARC2015, Australia’s big event for the international lighting community to be held in Sydney between 27-29 May, is not to be missed, and here are the top five:
1. Showcasing lighting innovation
The three-day conference and exhibition will feature the latest in lighting technology and design as well as what’s next for the industry with more than 80 exhibitors confirmed to attend.
2. Expert national and international speakers
An impressive line-up of expert speakers from around the world will present on a range of topics in lighting design, education, research and architecture including colour LED lighting, connected lighting, energy efficiency, policy and health issues related to lighting.
3. After-hours workshops
SPARC2015 gives industry attendees the chance to accumulate professional development points through the various speaker sessions on offer during after-hours. The first workshop, Asia-Pacific Lighting Systems, will be held on Wednesday, 27 May from 7 pm and will cover seven discussions over two hours on lighting measurements, standards and regulations, lighting controls and innovative applications to reduce energy consumption.
4. Networking
Attendees can rub shoulders with other industry professionals such as architects, designers and lighting specialists, interact with exhibitors and hear the latest research, insights and product knowledge from the international lighting community.
5. Pecha Kucha sessions and VIVID Sydney
Hosted for the first time at SPARC2015, and back after its success at SPARC Design, the Pecha Kucha evening will be held on Thursday, 28 May from 7 pm. Based on the global sensation going viral, the evening will feature a fast-flowing night of hand-picked lighting experts and architects presenting 20 slides in quick succession.
The event will also once again align with VIVID Sydney, the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest annual celebration of light, music and ideas. Held at Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island, attendees can grab a free ferry from the event to Darling Harbour to enjoy the show.
