Glen Morris (VP of the Energy Storage Council) will be presenting another series of four-day residential Solar + Storage training courses at Moora Moora Community Cooperative near Healesville, Victoria. The next course is 7–10 February 2017, with another four scheduled between now and mid-June.

This course promises to deliver attendees detailed knowledge on how to size, configure, program and design both on-grid ‘solar hybrid’ systems (solar panels plus battery storage) and off-grid standalone power systems. No prior knowledge is required, though a basic understanding of solar PV systems is beneficial.

No ‘live’ LV electrical work will be undertaken by unlicensed participants, thus no electrical licensing requirements. All practical system training will be done on ELV (<120 VDC and <50 VAC) systems and pre-wired LV systems for non-electricians.

Students will gain the necessary skills and knowledge to design an off-grid or on-grid ‘hybrid’ system to customer requirements.

The course will be wholly held at Moora Moora Community Coop — an off-grid community consisting of 30 homes. Moora Moora has been living and demonstrating off-grid living for over 43 years.

Attendees will be training on the latest equipment from a range of suppliers:

  • LG Chem new 10 kWh battery
  • Energy Smart Water MyPV water heating
  • SolarEdge hybrid systems
