The ultra-white colour (5700 to 6500 K) Oslon SSL LED from Osram Opto Semiconductors measures 3 x 3 mm but has a typical luminous efficacy of 100 lm/W, providing the basis for high application efficiency at high currents in applications such as spotlights and ceiling floodlights.
The lamp is a 1 W LED and is intended to become a ‘green’ light source of the future. Its low thermal resistance of 7 K/W simplifies thermal management. If particularly strong light is needed, several light sources can be combined in a cluster. In addition to ultra-white, the LED will also be available in neutral white and warm white, with colour temperatures ranging from 2700 to 4500 K.
At an operating current of 350 mA, the lamp achieves a typical brightness of 110 lm in ultra-white (5700 and 6500 K) and 85 lm at 3000 K, with a typical efficiency of 75 lm/W, enabling high lighting-level applications to be achieved with fewer LEDs.
The lamp can be used as a replacement for halogen lamps in spotlights, desk lights and reading lights and can also be used in retrofit applications.
