Low-temperature downlights

Saturday, 01 November, 2008 | Supplied by: Arrowform

The Firebreak range of downlights is designed to minimise the risk of fires above ceilings, typically generated by the high temperatures of traditional halogen downlights.

The energy-efficient downlights are integrally protected against hidden fires, being fire-rated for up to 90 mins, and use intumescent materials to seal them off in the event of fire.

Compliant to the recently revised AS/NZS 3000:2007 (4.5.2.3) and AS/NZS 60598 standards, the downlights have minimal thermal emission, allowing installers to avoid the ‘default’ clearances of up to 200 mm from insulation and timber now required for standard downlights. This minimises thermal and acoustic rating degradation and allows flexibility to position the downlights where desired.

The fittings feature sealed spring clips and silicone gasket behind the flange to give the downlights an added seal and comprehensive instructions to ensure installers understand all aspects of the installation including adjacent insulation.

The downlights are available in fixed and tilt styles and are supplied as a kit complete with light fitting, electronic transformer and Osram 50 W, 60° globe as standard. A 35 W high output energy-saver halogen lamp is available as an option.
