Raritan Power IQ data centre energy management software

Monday, 15 March, 2010 | Supplied by: Raritan Australia Pty Ltd

Power IQ data centre energy management software helps track and analyse energy usage down to the individual IT device level and implement energy-saving actions from a central power console to improve operational and energy efficiency in data centres.

The system collects and analyses energy data of IT equipment connected to ethernet-enabled intelligent rack PDUs and UPSs.

For IT equipment not connected to rack PDUs, such as routers and disk arrays that are connected to rack or floor UPSs, the software enables a UPS to be a source for power data collection, which helps provide a more complete picture of IT power consumption.

The system supports deployments up to 5000 rack PDUs, collecting data from environmental sensors for analysing rack temperature and humidity, PDU probes and inline power meters, which are designed to be used in conjunction with ‘dumb’ rack PDUs to provide comprehensive strip-level metering on all types of IT equipment.

Power information is presented in user-configurable graphs and reports that can be accessed from anywhere with a web-based dashboard. Graphs can depict which devices are consuming the most energy, whether power conservation efforts are working and if there are hot spots or over-cooled areas.
