Electrical ground test kit

Wednesday, 08 July, 2009 | Supplied by: AEMC Instruments

The Tower and Substation GroundFlex Field Kit includes the GroundFlex Adapter model 6474 and Ground Resistance Tester model 6472 to test ground resistance of individual power transmission tower legs and total resistance without disconnecting the overhead ground wire. It is designed to save time and money and enhance safety for operators.

The instruments test at frequencies up to 5 kHz to profile impedance, which is important to characterise for lightning strikes. Other measurements of the instruments include bond resistance, ground resistance, soil resistivity, ground coupling, selective ground resistance using a current probe and step and touch potential testing.

Up to 512 test results can be stored in internal memory for later recall to the display or downloaded to a PC using DataView software for automatic report generation, automatic fall-of-potential plot generation and frequency/resistance plots.

The instruments feature large, backlit, multi-line digital displays and are powered by NiMH rechargeable batteries or from a 12 V vehicle battery.
