AMP NetConnect XG LAN cabling technology system

The AMP NetConnect XG LAN cabling technology system provides users with a next-generation network infrastructure to support 10 gigabit over both copper and fibre media. It comprises cable, connectors, termination closures and patch cords.

Two systems are available: the shielded twisted pair copper (XG shielded) or the optical fibre (XG fibre).

The copper cabling solution has been engineered to overcome the issue of alien crosstalk (ANEXT) and is claimed to give a high signal-to-noise ratio and good system performance. The system will support 10GBase-T to 100 m. The copper system offers the transmission capacity needed for 10GBase-T as outlined by IEEE 802.3an.

The XG shielded cables are claimed to have a 30% smaller diameter than comparative UTP category 6a cables. When used in conjunction with the shielded connectivity, the systems provide fast installation with AMP-Twist or SL series jacks and, with the SL series installation tool, they can be terminated in 60 s.

The 10G fibre system is also available, enabling a complete network cabling infrastructure solution to be supported technically by a single manufacturer.
