Eaton Intelligent Power Manager software

Thursday, 01 July, 2010 | Supplied by: Eaton Electrical (Australia) Pty Ltd

The Eaton Intelligent Power Manager software and shutdown modules integrate into VMware’s vCenter Server virtualisation platform to assist in reducing data centre infrastructure and operating costs, as well as increasing productivity and responsiveness.

The software enables all power devices across a virtual network to be monitored and managed from the vCenter Server console, eliminating the need to open multiple screens for various applications.

In the event of a prolonged power interruption, the software is designed to work with VMware’s vMotion to transparently move virtual machines from the affected server to a non-affected server, promoting data integrity and increasing the likelihood of zero downtime.

The software presents a consolidated view of the main operating parameters of all UPSs, which can be configured according to their type, location, operating status and other user-defined factors.

Users can also view critical power information such as status of UPSs, Eaton ePDU products, PoE midspans and temperature and humidity sensors from the vCenter console screen. Critical information such as the state of UPS batteries, load levels, battery runtime and other vital data can be accessed instantly in vCenter.
