IP55-rated enclosures

Monday, 01 September, 2008 | Supplied by: ABB Australia Pty Ltd

The IP55 range of enclosures and junction boxes has been developed with materials to ensure structural and environmental stability in harsh environments. The enclosures are available in 10 sizes, with internal dimensions from 100 x 100 x 80 mm to 310 x 240 x 160 mm.

Applications include electrical wiring and various industrial requirements where it is necessary to enclose electrical equipment reliably.

The lid and gasket are produced in a single pressing, while the enclosure is made from a thermoplastic material that is claimed to be self-extinguishing and resistant to abnormal heat and fire up to 960 °C.

Some models are available with quarter-turn lid screws, while others feature a transparent polycarbonate cover for applications that require internal components be visible. Metal base plates are also available for apparatus mounting.

The enclosures have an operating temperature range of -25 to +75 °C, are shock resistant up to 6 joules and resistant to chemical and atmospheric agents.
