2015 Australasian Road Safety Conference
The inaugural Australasian Road Safety Conference (ARSC2015) is being held on Queensland’s Gold Coast from 14-16 October 2015.
A joint initiative of the Australasian College of Road Safety, Austroads and the Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety – Queensland (CARRS-Q), the event is a response to the United Nationals call for a Decade of Action on Road Safety.
The UN focus is on five pillars:
- Improving road safety management — building capacity and collaboration across all sectors
- Safer roads
- Safer vehicles
- Safer road users
- Improving post-crash care
The conference theme is ‘Taking Action Together’ and organisers promise a multidisciplinary event featuring representatives from all facets of road and transport safety including research, teaching, practice and policy. A strong program of international keynote speakers will lead discussion groups, workshops and symposia.
The conference is expected to attract over 400 delegates including professionals, researchers, practitioners, community leaders, policymakers and students working in the very wide range of portfolios and industries who impact on improving road safety outcomes. This includes: infrastructure construction and maintenance; behavioural science; education and training; emergency services; engineering and new technology; health and rehabilitation; police, justice and law enforcement; local, state and federal governments; communications; traffic management; and vehicle safety industries.
