Car makers plagued by recalls
It’s been a bad month for motor companies. The Yakata airbag inflator saga continues, with Toyota, Nissan and Honda recalling more than 31 million vehicles worldwide. Now Ford has issued a local notice on its VN and VO Transit vehicles.
The notice refers to VN and VO Transits fitted with the 2.2 L Duratorq engine, sporting a manufacture date between 16 September 2014 and 8 January 2015 and sold nationally.
Identifying features include the Campaign number 15S01 and Target number 138.
A small number of fuel injectors fitted to the engine may have an incorrectly assembled internal valve. If the valve fails, it can result in loss of fuel pressure, which may lead to an engine stall. If the engine stalls, it may pose a hazard to the driver and other road users.
Ford has written to all affected owners, who are advised to contact their Ford dealership for inspection and rectification. For further information, contact any authorised Ford dealer.
