GasBuddy fuel pricing app launches in Australia
Australian motorists now have access to real-time fuel prices at nearby service stations, thanks to the launch of GasBuddy, an app for iOS and Android.
The company has opened a new office in Sydney and expanded its offering to drivers throughout Australia, the first country outside the US and Canada to have access to the service.
“Australia has some of the most volatile fuel prices in the world, with 89% of motorists thinking they pay too much at the pump,” said Ivan Silvagni, vice president of international for GasBuddy.
“GasBuddy has responded to this consumer frustration, first in North America and now in Australia. We say ‘gas’, Australians say ‘fuel’. Luckily, we all understand saving money,” said Silvagni.
According to a recent study, 60% of Australian motorists follow prices closely in order to fill up at the cheapest rate possible. With GasBuddy, this will become easier and more efficient as consumers will be able to find, compare and report prices as a community, right on their smartphones.
“Petrol prices vary greatly even within a small distance and this has long been a pain point for Aussies,” said Nic Moulis, country manager of GasBuddy Australia.
“GasBuddy is a game changer because it takes the mystery out of fuel cost, puts the power back to the consumer and provides the information needed for the motorist to avoid overpaying at the bowser,” he said.
GasBuddy is available in the Apple Store and on Google Play.
