Legal dramas surround Domino's GPS Driver Tracker technology

Domino's Pizza Enterprises has released a statement strongly refuting the “repeated false and misleading claims” made by Precision Tracking in relation to the company’s GPS Driver Tracker technology.

Domino’s Group CEO and Managing Director Don Meij said that the company had been falsely accused.

“We are a transparent company and have absolutely nothing to hide. Unfortunately, we have a disgruntled potential supplier making false claims against Domino’s and its team members in an effort to try to latch on to Domino’s highly successful and innovative GPS Driver Tracker,” Meij said.

The release claims that Phoebe Stuart-Carberry, publicist for Precision Tracking, had made “repeated threatening remarks to Domino’s across a number of channels, including emails and via social media, concerning the publication of a documentary unless the dispute with Precision Tracking was resolved to their satisfaction. Despite requests from Domino’s, Ms Stuart-Carberry refused to provide a copy of the documentary for review.”

In response to the refusal, Domino’s applied to the NSW Supreme Court for an injunction to prevent publication of the documentary until further notice and requiring that a copy be provided to Domino’s for viewing. The Court found in favour of Domino’s and allegedly referred to Ms Stuart-Carberry’s behaviour as “arguably extortionate”.

The documentary has since been viewed by Domino’s and the company has formed the view that there “is nothing new in the untrue and misleading accusations being made”.

“We have our own people that we need to protect and defend and we won’t tolerate any form of bullying or threats so we had to take a strong stance,” Meij said in response to the viewing.

He claims that Domino’s is a proud supporter of Australian start-ups and small businesses.

“We have a culture of innovation, and foster and cultivate entrepreneurialism both internally with our staff and externally with start-ups,” he said.

The matter of the GPS Driver Tracker patent dispute between Domino’s and Precision Tracking remains before the Patents Office.
