Policing low-level speeding more than revenue raising
The National Road Safety Partnership Program (NRSPP) is hosting a webinar on Friday 31 March on low-level speeding and the impact on safety. While policing of low-level speeding is widely disputed within the community and often seen as a revenue-raising exercise, evidence increasingly suggests that enforcing speed limits delivers greater overall road safety.
The webinar will be presented by Ian Johnston, who has worked in the safety field for over 40 years in a number of roles with the federal government, Victorian state government, as CEO of the ARRB group and in academia as director of the Monash University Accident Research Centre. He is currently the independent chair of the NRSPP Steering Committee. The webinar will explore existing evidence, as well as the nature of prevailing community perceptions, and promises to make a case for a new type of public discussion.
The webinar commences at 2 pm AEDT, but participants are encouraged to connect 15 minutes prior. All registered attendants will receive a copy of the presentation material and a recording. Click here to register.
