Product safety notice: Mazda BT-50 ute
Mazda Australia has announced that 130 of the company’s BT-50 series ute, available for sale nationally from 23 September to 05 November 2020, have issues with the rear seat belt pretensioner connector lock. This may not have been installed correctly during vehicle assembly and will not tension properly.
According to the company, if the pretensioner wiring harness connector incorrectly locks, this can prevent it from fully tensioning the seatbelt in the event of an accident. This could increase the risk of injury or, in the case of a serious accident, increase the risk of death to vehicle occupants.
Mazda Australia will contact all affected consumers when parts become available in April 2021. Consumers will be advised to present their vehicle to their preferred Mazda Dealer for inspection and repair, at no charge.
For further information, consumers should contact Mazda Customer Support on 1800 034 411. A full list of affected VIN details is available on the ACCC Product Safety Australia website here.
