Trimble to showcase new CarCube
Trimble will be showcasing its next-generation CarCube onboard computer at the International Truck, Trailer and Equipment Show (5–7 May, Melbourne).
The new CarCube now features a slim, high-resolution and responsive touchscreen with a more powerful processor. As well as offering a 3D map view for navigation, the system now shows drivers precisely where they can change lanes to optimise efficiency.
CarCube can be used to manage documents, such as manuals or safety instructions, and, to further reduce installation times, the device’s dimensions have been altered to bring it in line with the DIN slot format.
The company said the sixth-generation offering delivers improved navigation, including specific safety information and alerts for drivers such as insufficient clearance under bridges or tight bends. The navigation system remains active even when the truck drives through a tunnel.
Trimble will also showcase the mobile FleetXPS app, a native Android application, concentrating on the interaction with the driver when dealing with logistical activities. Also, the Truck4U, a DIN format onboard unit permanently built into the truck but without a display, will be demonstrated. Truck4U performs classic fleet management tasks.
