With the rapid developments in PON/GPON technologies, equipment manufacturer of gigabit passive optical network (GPON) equipment Cambridge Industries Group (CIG) needed to significantly shorten product release cycle times and address the high volume and complex testing requirements of GPON.
CIG selected Spirent iTest to increase its productivity and reduce the cost of testing during research and development.
The Spirent iTest platform offers productivity gains through embedded test expertise, improved collaboration, integrated test orchestration, optimised test execution and efficient use of resources.
Complete end-to-end system testing supports 30 different session types, allowing for native control of different devices simultaneously.
Fast test authoring with capture/replay, response mapping and pass/fail wizards allow new test cases to be developed quickly, either with planned or exploratory testing and without detailed programming or scripting knowledge. iTest separates the test case, response map, topology and parameters so that test cases can be more easily shared, re-used and maintained.
Streamlined team collaboration allows standard test assets to be easily shared between teams (including customers and suppliers, if required) and automated documentation and results capture all testing activities completed by users and the responses from devices.
“We required a solution that was powerful yet easy to use and would enable engineers of all skill levels to contribute to the test automation process,” said Haibo Zhao, CTO at Cambridge Industries Group. “With Spirent iTest, we have increased the value provided by our test engineers, reduced our overhead costs, better leveraged existing resources and improved time to market for our products.”
