Switching developer benefits from test automation product
Blade Network Technologies, a data centre ethernet switching company, has implemented Fanfare’s test automation product, iTest, to meet its increasing product development and time-to-market goals. Blade has saved approximately $500,000 in resource and equipment costs, sanity build times and time to market since implementing iTest.
In 2009, Blade was focused on developing new product features to meet the growing demand for virtualisation-ready networks. Its portfolio of products had increased significantly and the increased volume and complexity of testing requirements caused its testing cycle to grow, until it was seven times longer than it was at the company’s inception.
An evaluation of iTest proved it to be powerful yet easy to use and helped Blade meet its productivity objectives. The company has experienced significant ROI since using iTest, including reduced scripting costs by more than 40%, better utilisation of existing resources, regardless of skill set, and streamlined defect resolution, allowing more time to be spent on quality testing and development
“Getting to market with the right product at the right time provides us with better revenue opportunities,” said Tim Chao, Vice President of Software Engineering, Blade Network Technologies. “This ability to capture business opportunity is by far and away the biggest benefit that Fanfare has delivered to Blade.”
Tom Ryan, President and CEO of Fanfare, said: “Fanfare is committed to helping our customers with advanced automation solutions throughout the quality workflow by streamlining system and device testing, shortening product life cycles and lowering costs.”
