The Beckhoff digital multimeter terminal adds measurement functions to its I/O system. Using the instrument with a fieldbus interface for measuring current and voltage, measured values can be processed directly in the I/O system or by the master controller. These dynamic measuring terminals are available for both the Beckhoff Bus and EtherCAT terminal systems.
The KL3681 Bus terminal and EL3681 EtherCAT terminal are claimed to increase flexibility because of their wide input ranges and automated measuring range selection. High-resistance measurement allows the Bus terminal to be used like a modernised digital multimeter.
Automatic measurement range adjustment simplifies use. The digital multimeter terminals measure DC and AC voltages (30 mV to 300 VDC, 100 mV to 300 VAC) and AC/DC current (100 mA, 1 A, 10 A).
Immunity to interference is achieved via galvanic isolation of the measuring system and a measurement interval of typically 200 ms. The Bus terminal has an interface to all common fieldbuses via which it can be read out and parameterised.
