Fluke Networks has released the OptiFiber Pro OTDR, a handheld optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) for enterprise fibre testing.
The OptiFiber has a smartphone user interface, which Fluke claims reduces complexity and minimises the learning curve associated with older OTDRs.
A simplified ‘data centre mode’ automates the process of setting test parameters such as wavelength or end-detection algorithms, which may reduce set-up time and the complexity of learning to troubleshoot data centre problems.
The OTDR comes with test connectors and patch cords as short as 0.5 m, giving short event and attenuation dead zones. It shows all fibre events graphically, allowing users to quickly and easily interpret OTDR trace results.
Built-in project management tools facilitate the assignment and tracking of all fibre testing projects for multiple users, which may enhance tracking visibility and enable device sharing.
The OptiFiber includes upgraded LinkWare management software which Fluke claims eases the burden of workflow management and integrates test results.
