The Hioki 3280 series clamp testers with double-opening jaws enable clamping of conductors up to 33 mm in diameter and 35 mm (model 3288 and 3287) in confined spaces.
Four versions are available: a true RMS model (3280-20); an RMS-indicating model (3280-10) with both having a maximum measurement range AC current of 1000 A; the 3287 with an AC as well as DC current range maximum of 100 A; and the 3288/3288-20 with an AC and DC range of 1000 A maximum.
Sampling techniques in the 3280-20, 3287 and 3288-20 permit accurate measurement of currents with crest factors of typically 2.5, as encountered in applications experiencing high harmonic distortion.
The testers’ frequency range (10 to 1000 Hz) makes them suitable for use with variable speed drives and general industrial applications including power electronics.
The clamp testers are designed for use in highly confined situations, having a slimline construction (16 mm at the thickest point and 175 mm in length). The ergonomic design is suited to both left- and right-hand operation and the Cat III (600 V) rating makes the clamp testers suitable for safe operation in challenging industrial environments.
The digital multimeter function permits measurements of voltage to 600 AC or DC. In addition, there are measurement functions for resistance (from 420 Ω full scale to 42 MΩ) and continuity on the 420 Ω scale.
