Nonmetallic-contact voltage measurement

The Hioki Safety HiTester 3258 provides electricians with a safe and convenient means to measure voltages in circuit breaker compartments and other control cabinets. The device compensates for the inaccuracies caused by coupling capacitance based on a voltage comparator principle.

The probes are optimised for LV measurements to 600 VAC, utilising a two-probe method to measure phase voltage to neutral/ground and also phase-to-phase. Measurements can be made on busbars, terminals and insulated cables from 38 mm2 upwards. The tester can be used without having to remove breaker covers in order to access metallic contacts, making service procedures safer and faster by being able to keep apparatus live during the entire measurement procedure. For typical LV three-phase circuits, accuracy is ±1.5% of reading ± 5 digits. For frequencies to 400 Hz, accuracy is ±2.5% of reading ±5 digits.
