DET4TC digital ground testers

Monday, 17 December, 2007 | Supplied by: Megger Limited

The DET4TC and DET4TCR digital ground testers conduct earth-stake and soil-resistivity testing, supporting true stake-less testing for reliable measurements in situations where driving stakes is impractical and ART (attached rod technique) testing, which eliminates the potential hazards associated with having to disconnect earth stakes for testing purposes.

The testers can also conduct standard two- and three-wire fall-of-potential electrode testing and four-wire soil resistivity testing using the Wenner method. For all tests, the normal 50 V test voltage can be selected, or the reduced test voltage of 25 V, ensuring compliance with the requirements of EN61557 under all conditions.

The IP54-rated instruments can be operated with gloved hands, with the required test selected using a single selector switch and initiated by a push-button. Results are shown on a large backlit LCD, for visibility in varying light conditions.

The DET4TC is designed for operation from dry batteries, while the DET4TCR is supplied with rechargeable batteries and battery charger. The testers are available in basic versions, which comprise the instrument, earth stakes, wire kit and hard carrying case, or in complete kit forms, which add an 'Iclamp' for ART testing, 'Vclamp' for stake-less testing, clamp calibration loop, instrument calibration checker, four earth stakes with wires and adapters to connect to various test leads. Both basic and kit versions are supplied with calibration certificates.
