National Manufacturing Week 2011 is a week-long event co-located with Austech, and it is the only fully integrated annual manufacturing exhibition showcasing the latest products and constantly evolving technologies in the expanding manufacturing market. Plans for this year’s event include co-located shows, an expanded seminar program and solid marketing strategy.

Responding to the continued retraction in Australia’s manufacturing sector, the organisers of National Manufacturing Week (NMW) 2011 are working to further expand the program’s profile as Australia’s most significant industry event.

Paul Baker, NMW Exhibition Director, commented: “We’re acutely aware that key indexes, such as the AIG/PwC Performance of Manufacturing Index for January, which showed manufacturing activity fell over the last five quarters, indicate just how much pressure manufacturers are facing. With this in mind, we are focusing on helping participants to make the most of sales opportunities at NMW 2011.”

This year’s event incorporates new features to help draw buyers to NMW 2011, while retaining the 10 industry-specific product zones which highlight the wide range of products incorporated under one roof. This face-to-face environment gives the buyer the opportunity to develop new and existing relationships, while sourcing new products.

Within the event, the electrical zone is the definitive showcase for the electrical industry. This zone will feature a comprehensive range of high-tech products, services and technologies for the dynamic electrical sector of the manufacturing industry.

Product categories include:

  • Cables and busbars;
  • Closures;
  • Communication engineering;
  • Computer and communication technology;
  • Data communications;
  • Electrical components and accessories;
  • High-tech products and new techniques;
  • Industrial equipment and accessories;
  • Installation and control equipment;
  • Lighting and lamps;
  • Programmable logic controllers (PLCs);
  • Smart building technologies;
  • Storage/enclosures; and
  • Test and measurement equipment.

Additionally, NMW 2011 will, for the first time, include the triennial Ausplas international plastics industry exhibition, making the event a compelling proposition for both domestic and international visitors. Ausplas is Australia’s national exhibition for the plastics processing industry and the longest running trade show of its type in the Southern Hemisphere. It is held every three years with exhibitors from Australia, Europe and Asia, engaged in the supply of plastics processing and ancillary equipment, raw materials and additives, new processing technologies, recycling and new areas of applications for plastics. Visitors from major industry sectors include packaging, manufacturing, electronics, building and construction, and mining and engineering.

The organisers have booked the entire Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre for the 24-27 May event. Demand for the available space is strong, with landmark exhibitors including Henkel, BOC, Robotic Automation and Thermadyne already having booked two-thirds of exhibition space.

“NMW and Austech occupied 80% of the MCEC in 2009, in the middle of the economic downturn,” added Baker. “In the same year, Ausplas occupied the equivalent of a third of the same space. Even taking some overlap of visitors into account, we are confident that NMW 2011 will draw significant numbers of buyers, making it the industry’s best opportunity for connecting with new customers.”

With manufacturing more competitive than ever, manufacturers are constantly seeking process improvements to enhance efficiency and boost profitability. NMW 2011 allows them to source the latest products and services across all industry sectors, in one place at one time. Attendance to NMW 2011 is free for trade only.
