Evans comments on BLSC opening
Minister for Skills Chris Evans has commented on yesterday’s opening of the Master Builders Association (MBA) Building Leadership Simulation Centre (BLSC) in Melbourne. Evans launched the BLSC yesterday with a $1.9 million investment from the Australian Government.
“As part of its drive for higher workforce skills in the building and construction industry, MBA is leading the way with new technology that revolutionises skills training,” Evans said.
The BLSC will be able to train up to 7000 building and construction industry professionals each year. It is only the third facility in the world to use virtual reality simulation for training, Evans said.
Through the National Workforce Development Fund, the MBA is also working with the Australian Government to provide further training for building and construction workers.
“We are working with the industry to train workers to a Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma and Advance Diploma level in building and construction,” Evans said.
“With a $2.6 million co-investment from the Australian Government, almost 950 workers will get access to training in 22 different qualifications.”
