German energy-efficiency conference in Melbourne
In conjunction with a trade delegation visit from Germany’s booming energy-efficiency industry, the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce will host a bilateral summit - Australia-Germany Energy Efficiency in Buildings 2009 Industry Conference - on 14 September 2009 in Melbourne, sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology with the support of Invest in Victoria.
Over a hundred green building experts and key industry players are expected to attend the free conference, with the Hon. Martin Pakula, Minister for Industry and Trade, Minister for Industrial Relations Victoria, joining 15 speakers from Germany and Australia to discuss current trends and future perspectives on the use of energy efficiency in buildings.
Energy-efficiency technology experts representing industry bodies and associations will examine the latest policy developments and technological progress in both countries.
Germany’s key industry players will share experiences from their dynamic home market and present carbon-busting innovations and services to their Australian counterparts.
“Australian companies can explore new business opportunities by connecting with experts who succeeded in Germany’s progressive energy-efficiency industry,” said Markus Gilbert, Executive Director of the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
The conference delegates will gain insights on a highly developed energy-efficiency market. Architects, suppliers, distributors, buyers and government representatives are also welcome to discuss a potential collaboration with experienced business partners specialising in state-of-the-art door systems, heat exchangers, building automation systems, lighting solutions and other energy-saving technologies.
“As the Australian and German governments share the commitment to increase energy efficiency, green building technologies will be a thriving business in the future. This summit will offer local companies [the ability] to cement their future success with the exchange of technology through transcontinental business ties,” Gilbert said.
Surprisingly, Germany has consumed less energy than 20 years ago, despite an ever-growing production output. With the aim of becoming the most energy-efficient nation in the world, the German government rolled out supportive policies and pledged to invest billions of euros.
