NBN Co honours B&R Enclosures
B&R Enclosures has received the 2014 NBN Co Chairman’s Award for Supplier Excellence and Innovation.
Greg Adcock, NBN Co Chief Operations Officer, said, “I congratulate B&R on winning NBN Co Chairman’s Award for Supplier Excellence and Innovation for 2014. This family-owned Australian company’s innovation solution supports the National Broadband Network’s objective to deliver broadband faster, sooner and more cost effectively.
“Since the NBN rollout began in 2011, B&R has supplied common network infrastructure (CNI) racks for fibre access nodes, aggregation nodes and points of interconnect in NBN Co’s Transit network. This was followed by a competitive tender for the design and manufacture of an enclosure for the housing of the network termination device and power supply to be installed in customer premises.
The project required B&R to undertake extensive research into the needs of installers and home owners to provide an innovative, visually appealing, small enclosure that met demanding specifications for temperature control, cable management, as well as ease of access and safety.
Ken Bridges, managing director of B&R Enclosures, said, “This award belongs to everybody at B&R that has worked with great diligence and commitment to understand the needs and expectations of NBN Co. Managing highly complex projects and supply demands whilst maintaining technical performance were fundamental to meeting those expectations.
“While a challenging formula to achieve in today’s globalised marketplace, the NBN Co award should inspire confidence in the strength, capability and cost competitiveness of Australian manufacturing,” Bridges concluded.
