NECA Qld appoints member services manager

National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) has announced the appointment of respected industry identity Mick Logan as Member Services Manager.

Logan has extensive experience, including working six years for the Queensland Electrical Safety Office in senior management roles and serving as a key member of the national Electrical Regulatory Advisory Council (ERAC), working on electrical safety, licensing, inspection, equipment and supply regulators.

NECA Queensland Executive Director Guy Houghton said, “Mick brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this new role.

“His knowledge of the electrical industry and the contacts he has built up over the years will prove a major asset for our members and will help NECA deal with local regulators in every state and other industry associations, as well as engaging with governments in the Asia-Pacific region.”

During Logan’s time at the Queensland Electrical Safety Office, he has built up knowledge of the state’s electrical industry across licensing, inspection and policy aspects of the regulation of NECA members. He also has knowledge and contacts outside government across industry associations and businesses involved in generation, distribution, installation and electrical equipment supply chains.

Prior to entering the electrical industry, Logan had a senior role in Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, and before that, he spent 15 years in industrial relations at a state and national level.

“The advantage of Mick’s other roles is that as well as giving NECA members electrical industry advice he can also help them make everyday sense of their increasing occupational health and safety obligations and keep them abreast of their Fair Work Australia obligations on employee pay and conditions,” said Houghton.

Logan’s experience serving on ERAC has given him up-to-date knowledge of current issues including the National Occupational Licensing System, the Australian standard being developed for electrical safety management systems, the national electrical equipment safety system and the national wiring rules process. Logan has extensive industry contacts and professional contacts with every electrical regulator in Australia and New Zealand, contacts in Asia - including China, Singapore and Hong Kong - and strong industry contacts in Standards Australia, Lighting Council of Australia, Consumer Electronics Suppliers Association and the Australian Information Industry Association.
